Methods of Wiring

The following examples show how wiring in electronic devices evolved over time. While today most devices are wired with PCB, Point-to-Point and Wire Wrap are also still used.

In many ways the PCB method is superior to older methods of wiring, but for some applications older methods are still preferred. For example, Power Electronics (involving large devices that transmit large amounts of electrical current), and for some audio appliances, where external custom cabling is utilized, point-to-point is the preferred option. Wire Wrap is still used within telecommunication.
